CLASSES

My classes are different than your normal workout. They increase body knowledge and awareness with techniques for any age, instead of specific exercise recipes. You will learn how to become aware of movements using exercises from Yoga, Pilates, and Somatics (the mind-body connection as it relates to pain) to awaken the sensory nervous system, long ago put to sleep by desk jobs, high heels, an unnatural body image standards.

I teach the movement vocabulary we need for daily living. My classes are for people who want to regain posture, build strength, maintain balance, and be active throughout life.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

YOGA FOR BETTER POSTURE

This class focuses on movements and yoga poses that help to awaken and stimulate the mind body connection necessary for real change to take place. You will befriend your own body, learn to experience what works and what doesn't and learn a tool box of skills that will enhance your physical and mental vitality.

PILATES CORE AND BREATH

Pilates is a system of movement that teaches us to awaken the deeper muscles of the body and learn how to move in a way that aligns and engages these deeper postural muscles resulting in more flexibility and strength.

YOGA FOR BREATH AND RELAXATION

Learning how to restore the function of breath as a means of support to movement and as a way of relaxation is what this class does. The interesting thing about becoming more breath aware is that you will notice how a cranky hip or sore shoulder will magically improve after discovering an area of the body where we either don't breath into or breath out of. Combining gentle yoga postures with a conscious awareness of the breath helps to unravel deeply held tensions in mind and body.

This is a slow deep class that will leave you feeling like you just had an hour massage. It's a great way to start your week, press the reset button, drop down into the support of the ground underneath you while orchestrating your own unique rhythm of breath and movement.

PILATES CORE AND STRENGTH

Real strength is about being able to coordinate movement with only the necessary amount of tension. In this class we connect the dots between mind and body to learn how to move more freely.
